Welcome to The Creator Lab – a fully-equipped haven for 2SLGBTQ+ BIPOC/women photographers, filmmakers, musicians, visual artists, and designers.
As a central hub for resources, mentorship, and programming, our maker space empowers residents in their career, creative, and personal pursuits.
Say goodbye to lengthy commutes for North York residents. Our conveniently located space provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for local artists to refine their craft. The multipurpose room, primarily a photography/videography studio, accommodates small workshops, events, rehearsals, and creative projects. Whether you opt for a shared booking, hosting up to 5 guests alongside concurrent room rentals, or a private booking with exclusive access for you and your guests, the Creator Lab offers flexibility tailored to your creative needs.
All bookings come with full access to our equipment, and a studio attendant is on hand for support. Your setup is ready before your booking time to maximize your creative potential. Optimize your experience and elevate your projects in a space designed for versatility and inclusivity.
Booking with The Creator Lab:
BOOKING TYPES: Choose between SHARED or PRIVATE rates. SHARED allows up to 5 people, while PRIVATE bookings allow up to 8. For sessions longer than 4 hours, add-ons are available to extend your time. The BEAUTY SALON is available to book in addition as a dressing/green room.
EQUIPMENT OPTIONS: Let us know your preferred equipment, or share details about your booking, and we'll prepare what suits you best. Explore a variety of video and photography lighting options for beginners to expert-level work. Your booking includes access to a portable speaker and TV for laptop connections.
FURNITURE/TOOL OPTIONS: Request additional furniture/tools available in different rooms, including a steamer, clothes rack, foldable tables, up to 20 white chairs (covers included), and more.
BACKDROP PAPERS: Choose from our 53” and 86” paper backdrops. Set up before your booking, it takes 5-10 minutes to switch colors. Notify us in advance for multiple colors. We charge $5+tax for every foot of damaged/dirty paper. Pre-purchase backdrop paper to ensure a clean set for your booking.
