During the pandemic, plenty of our residents became nail technicians, got their eyelash extension certifications, learned how to braid different hairstyles, got into makeup professionally and more. However, one of their most significant barriers was that they didn't have space in their homes or communities to set up an area to accept clients. Or they may need more experience or funds to work in a salon.

We recognize that renting out chairs within salons can get pricey throughout the city and require a steady flow of clientele. And many emerging beauty technicians may need help to afford all the equipment and furniture. The Beauty Salon allows beauticians to create bookings according to their work volumes, enabling them to develop and build a regular retention clientele in a fully-equipped space. 

Flaunt-It's Beauty Salon is a versatile space that can transform to serve any beauty needs. We can set up the space to accommodate:

Lash/Brow Technicians: Massage bed, stool, half-moon ring light, circular ring light, supply cart, tattoo tray, pillows and bed covers

Nail technicians: Manicure table, nail vacuum, UV lamps, nail drills, and chairs for both the technician and clients

Hair/Makeup Artists: Vanity light set-up, ring lights, bar stools available, film director chair available

When booking the space, beauticians can select which set-up they'd like, as we will ensure it's fully prepared before your booking. We believe in helping you maximize your time in our space by ensuring it has everything you need.

Since the room is private, anyone can book the space. However, it is designed for 2SLGBTQ+ Black, Indigenous, Women and gender-diverse (femmes, non-binary) beauticians of colour.

The beauticians themselves should book the Studio for their clients. Therefore, beauticians should identify as a woman, femme, or non-binary, or we welcome queer men/youth as well. Their guests can be anyone they invite (up to 3 additional people).

Residents and students can access subsidized rates by completing our resident verification form. Memberships for residents will be available in the new year.

We provide as much equipment as possible and are open to feedback on what else we should provide. All beauticians are responsible for bringing their supplies. You can read our amenities below.

If you are a client looking for beauty services, please note that you can suggest your local beauticians to rent/utilize this space. Otherwise, the Beauty Salon is a private booking space that will only be used when booked by a beautician. We are developing a list of local beauticians you can support and hire.

Only you and your clients/guests will be in the room when you book the room. It can accommodate up to 4 people with each booking. The Flaunt It Studio is a shared space, so people may utilize the other rooms.
