The Studio's purpose is to address the scarcity, overcrowding, and financial constraints in accessing creative space in Northwest Toronto.
Due to systemic underinvestment in the Jane-Finch Community, there have been extensive consequences, including underemployment among youth, the inability to explore interests or pursue passions, and a lack of professional skills.
The Studio is an immediate solution to the mass gentrification and displacement of this underserved community amid the development of the Finch West LRT. The development increases the need for innovative, collaborative strategies to economically empower Jane-Finch’s low-income residents.
